Candidate will be required to work effectively as part of the ATS team.​ Close interaction and sharing of ideas will be a daily activity.​ Organized work habits, good communication skills, and a willingness and drive to innovate are a necessity. Specific responsibilities will include the following:

 

Summary of Responsibilities:

Applies mechanical engineering principles to design, enhance and evaluate moderately complex mechanical components and/or systems for new and existing products for the ATS group within budget and time constraints.

 

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineer

  • Minimum 5 years engineering & design experience within custom equipment design & manufacturing environment

  • Proficient in mechanical 3D design tools and principals

  • Self-motivated with ability to handle assignments with minimum guidance

  • Strong working knowledge of structural analysis and dynamics

  • Familiar with and/or willingness to learn wide variety of engineering principles including cooling system design, pneumatic and hydraulic design and fatigue/failure theory, etc.

  • Familiarization with Microsoft Office, including Word, Powerpoint and Excel

     

Desirable Requirements:

  • Autodesk Inventor proficiency preferred

  • ANSYS FEA Structural Analysis Software experience preferred

  • Rigid Body Dynamics Experience preferred

  • Experience with mathematical computing and analysis tools knowledge

     

Duties may include:

  • Organizing a systematic account of the engineering analysis for customer submittal.
  • Analytical FEA model, breakout modeling including detailed joint calculations for rivet, bolted or welded patterns.
  • Failure theory: both intermittent duty and fatigue system structural analysis.
  • Engineering sizing & life analysis including pneumatic, hydraulic, brake, actuator, motor and bearing sizing and validation.
  • Design structural and high strength to weight ratio sub-components to meet performance goals of device.
  • Mechanism sizing, design and analytical validation.
  • Work with team to ensure manufacturability of designs.
  • Analysis for performance testing and correlation of analysis with performance test results, strain gauge data, etc.
